Über diese Tour
This day trip leaves directly from Como — perfect if you are already staying on Lake Como and don’t want to add a Milan transfer to your itinerary. The format combines a coach drive to St. Moritz with a panoramic Bernina Express train ride to Tirano, then a coach back to Como. The same operator runs the Milan-departure panoramic tour, but this one saves roughly 2 hours of coach time each way.
You meet on Viale Innocenzo XI in central Como, in front of the B&B Hotel City Centre. The coach departs north toward Lake Como, then climbs into the Engadin valley with a coffee break on the way. You arrive in St. Moritz around midday with about 2 hours 30 minutes of free time to walk along the lake, find lunch or browse the shops.
In the afternoon, you board the Bernina Express in a guaranteed panoramic carriage with the curved glass roof. The train climbs out of St. Moritz, crosses the Bernina Pass at 2,253 metres past Lago Bianco, then descends through Alp Grüm, Val Poschiavo and the Brusio Spiral Viaduct to Tirano. The ride lasts about 2 hours 30 minutes.
You have about 45 minutes in Tirano — enough for a quick walk to the Sanctuary of the Madonna or a gelato — before the coach takes you back to Como, with arrival in the late evening. The whole tour runs about 12.5 to 13 hours.
