Private boat on Lake Como with the village of Bellagio in the background, framed by the snowy peaks of the Bernina range

About this tour

This is the most-reviewed Bernina day trip on GetYourGuide because it folds three regional icons into a single day: a morning boat cruise on Lake Como, the train ride across the Bernina Pass, and an afternoon stop in St. Moritz. The format is intense but well-paced, with a live multilingual guide throughout.

You meet at Piazza 4 Novembre next to Milano Centrale at the Autostradale bus stop. The coach heads north to the shore of Lake Como, where a private boat takes the group on a cruise of about 45 minutes just after sunrise. The route passes Bellagio and several of the lake’s famous historic villas. This is a real cruise, not a quick photo stop.

From Lake Como the coach continues north over the Maloja Pass to St. Moritz, where you get around 1 hour 30 minutes of free time to walk, find a coffee or browse the shops. You then board the Bernina Red Train in 2nd class — the same UNESCO route as the panoramic Bernina Express, with windows you can open for photos. The train descends past Morteratsch Glacier, Bernina Diavolezza, Val Poschiavo and the Brusio Spiral Viaduct.

A coach picks the group up after the train ride and takes you back to Milan, with a typical arrival around 20:30. The full day runs about 13 hours and covers a large amount of ground — bring snacks for the train.
